this is some 'Chris Gaines' style shit...

Jo Calderone

This is not real life.

I've stopped using Lookbook as much lately. Among the sea of outfits containing the exact same looks-dotted tights/cut-offs/studded everything/leather jacket/boots-it's hard to really find as much inspiration as i once found. The creator Yuri has done a great job, and created a pretty wonderful site, but people abuse it and it's lost the originality it once had. Yes, it's fun to share/view looks from all over the world, but you don't need stranger's approval to prove you have "style"...i see alot of people get legitimately bummed over it, because they're not one of "THE" girls on the Hot Page, but if that's what's fashions about to some, then it's time to move on.

Work your style in the real world first and foremost.

“I think fashion is over. Or if it isn’t over, I believe we’ve reached a saturation point. No wonder there is no authenticity. The future stopped in the ’60s. Before that, you had everyone looking forward, and now it’s just a tide of people looking back. What I’m really looking toward is the future.”

Renewing my love for Beck

I always forget about "The Information" album, but i fall in love with it all over again whenever it happens to get some play on my itunes.

'Somewhere'

i can hardly wait for this!
Sofia Coppola's really got her very own aesthetic and stylistic approach to film. Her work is always undoubtedly beautiful, even when the subject matter is far from it. She doesn't have to rely on her last name and famous relatives, Sofia's in a category of her own. And the soundtracks! Almost as good as the films themselves, songs are so carefully chosen and fit the moment in the most unexpected way sometimes. She understands how to not only visually stimulate, but mentally-the tiny details hidden throughout her movies meant to add a little bit of burning curiosity in everyone.

btw: isn't the alternate version of The Strokes' "You Only Live Once" amazing?

It's true

project some love to the universe and it will love you back.

Change your name to 'Jeeves' next.

Believe it or not, girls enjoy doing things for themselves...
i hate to say that i'm literally nauseated at the lack of balls some grown men have.
chivalry is one thing, but being a full-time servant in hopes of winning a girl over is just sad.

not to mention i'm over here feeling like chopped liver.
though i don't want that sort of attention, or at least not at this volume.
i just find it strange and desperate.
the worst i've seen.

For what it's worth, I don't enjoy being an absolute bitch when I have to, I just am not okay with letting others take advantage of me or wronging me out of selfishness. Correct me if I'm wrong, but killing one with kindness stopped working in 5th grade, and we all know ignoring a problem is basically giving in. Sometimes I'd rather know who my friends aren't...those who are true don't really make me question the validity.

my dream journal is repetitive, but heavy at the moment.
constantly having a mixture and rotation of the same scenarios.
trying to be two very far away places at once, with impossible deadlines.
everyone i truly care for suddenly hating me without little explanation.
my high school forcing me to return to a fluorescent hell.
in between, are essentially the same sex dreams, which isn't new.
but it's literally the same four sequences, deviating slightly each time they replay in my head.
same faces, same conflicts.
i understand them and agree they reflect my waking life.
but they're stuck and nothing else is really flowing in.

is there a way to set them free?

your fuckin morbid in the prettiest manner ive seen!! not a question rly, sorry :)

Ask me anything

Back-Breaking Beautiful

D-Squared is always wandering outside the lines, following the general idea for a current trend but turning it out in unexpected ways. The laces on this style are sick, making them just a little bit more fierce than the original pump.

we like spooky, we like scary

this dress & headpiece are so ghostly and billowy, i've been staring at it for the past ten minutes trying to get over how beautiful the detailing is.

on another note, my roommate/P.I.C., Jessica returned from 'the devil town' aka Durango, and came home wearing the most amazing antique wedding veil from her grandmother-it's falling apart, but that makes it even cooler...tattered & sequined. i'm going to make her wear it for some photos, it really is something else.

i need a J-O-B...i feel bored and unproductive, plus uh, BROKE as a fucking joke.
but it's making me look for one even harder, because after 3 years of my adulthood with my parents still basically paying all my bills, i want nothing more than to cut that tie and let them relax, finally. financial independence really is something all people should feel in their lifetime. whether you're watching every dollar you spend or you never have to look at a price tag, knowing that you're in control of your assets & the guilt-free sensation of spending YOUR earnings, is really rewarding.

Warpaint

Jenny Lindberg, Emily Kokal & Theresa Wayman make up the LA rock band Warpaint.
Shannon Sossaman, who's better known for her roles in films like 'Wristcutters' & 'The Rules of Attraction' (which Theresa Wayman also appeared in as the suicidal admirer of Sean Bateman), was the original drummer. She also happens to be Jenny Lindberg's sister, but due to her acting career she left the band and has been replaced a couple times. Their music has a sleepiness to it that's perfect for winding-down, but they're always experimenting with different sounds, that keep me waiting for what's next. I first got a friend request on myspace a couple years ago and fell in love with their songs 'Elephants' & 'Stars', but I've genuinely enjoyed everything they've come out with since.

not this time

i feel dangerously close to giving into my insanity.
it's been leaking through the cracks these last few days.
stamp a giant "Fuck You" on my forehead & let's go.

Jeffrey Campbell: it never stops!

These have a dominatrix vibe to them that I can't help but adore. I can't decide if I want a pair of Jeffrey Campbell's that work with alot of outfits or something really fierce, but these definitely suit both sides.

The cut-outs in these platforms really make the shoe memorable, and they have a certain sweetness to them that keeps you from looking over the top (NOT that i object to that, but some people are seriously intimidated by shoes i've noticed!).

The tweed line of shoes are some of my favorites, they remind me of a pair of shoes i wore to death as a kid.

I love wing-tips in almost any style!

spring mama

these floral boots are darling, i had to make an outfit collage!

Easy-Rider

for some reason i just really like this outfit, and have re-worn it a few times already...something about the boyish components on my bottom half and the lace with sheepskin on top makes me feel like i'm in an all-girl motocycle gang.

Nightly reading

Jessica has killer taste in comics, so i've been reading through her collection at a steady speed the past week!
I started with some Hernandez Brothers, which i can't get enough of, and i've already swapped this stack for some new ones.
Remind me why comics are "so nerdy" again? if anything, comics will always suit my moods when i just can't commit to a long book.
